Goalie Henrik Lundqvist shut-out the Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers as of late had been taking periods off and paying for it.  They did against the Maple Leafs on Thursday and against the Sabres on Saturday.  Today they took the entire game or 3 periods off and suffered one of their most embarrassing losses ever to one of their top rivals in the New York Rangers.  The Rangers humiliated them 7-0.

It seems 4 is the popular number today.

The Flyers have now dropped 4 games in a row for the first time this season.  The last span in which they had 4 consecutive regulation losses was Nov. 27 – Dec. 7, 2009 (0-5-0).

Rangers forward Ryan Callahan scored 4 goals today in this game against the Flyers.  It marked the first 4-goal game by a Flyers opponent since Alex Kovalev scored four in a 7-4 L at Ottawa on Jan. 3, 2010.

It was also the 4th time this season, the Rangers have shut-out a team and won by 6 goals or more.  They defeated the Washington Capitals 7-0 on December 12th, 2010.  They defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-0 on January 19th.  They defeated the Capitals again 6-0 on February 25th.

Lastly it was the 4th time in his career Flyers’ captain Mike Richards has fought Brandon Dubinsky of the Rangers.
